Deep in the forests of Lubbock, Texas lay a high school built by ancient construction workers and electricians in the late nineteenth century. The building and its artifacts such as desks, staplers and dirty window blinds, was lost to the rest of civilization after the devastating fall of the LISD Empire.

Teacher Mr. Hill and followers embark on an extravagant journey to find the lost civilization, which has come to be called The Coronado High School. After many days of dehydration and exhaustion they stumbled upon a broken school bus, taken over by dark vines and tropical flowers. Mr. Hill had a feeling they were on the right trail and pressed on. Mr. Chamberlain, Mr. Hills’ associate, proposed they follow a pathway into the jungle. Mr. Strawn took the lead using his machete to cut away the dense brush surrounding the ancient trail. Before they knew it, a dark canopy of green lay around them on every side. Mrs. Moore checked the map one more time to see if they were on the right path. Sounds of frogs and slowly trickling water echoed through the spaces in the tangles of leaves.

As the sound of hammers and saws grew louder and louder, a shout came from the trees.

“I found it Mr. Hill!” Mr. Strawn exclaimed.

A large eroded wall lay framed by the tropical brush, below it, gold letters spelled out the name of the lost building. At last, Coronado had been found, and glory was brought to the name of the founders. So many years of calculating and educating themselves about the ancient culture had paid off.

Today was tourist day at Coronado, celebrating the third day of unusually dressed students and teachers for Spirit Week. Top dressed “tourists” were sent from second period to the office to be judged as “best dressed”. Winners were Hannah Fanning, Shelby Sypert, Devonte Hutchens, Morgan Bird, Matthew Spiker and Alex Neil Arnold. Each won two tickets to the Homecoming game on Friday night at Lowrey Field against Odessa High.

Tomorrow is “Would You Still Be My Friend If I Dressed This Way” Day. Who knows what we will be faced with tomorrow?
