Imagine a romantic scene out of a classic movie when a girl asks a guy in the sweetest way to go to the Sadie Hawkins Dance with her come to life. This happened for Sophomore Halie Unrein and Junior Jon Beaty.

Halie had made a sign the previous night that said: “Sadie Hawkins” for her big adventure ahead. She had gone through multiple plans, like standing in the auditorium and having a spotlight shown on her when Jon walked in and writing SADIE HAWKINS on tennis balls and sticking them into the fence on the side of the court. Finally, Halie decided on the perfect idea of how to court her boyfriend.

In 7th period, while Jon was in tennis class, Halie made her way out to the bleachers with her sign and a single, pink carnation. She made her way through thick and thin, climbing up onto the bleachers and falling multiple times trying to get the top. “Anything for love,” Unrein says.

Once she was in place, she popped up and threw the sign into the air, yelling, “Jon! Will you go to the Sadie Hawkins with me?” At first, her boy ignored the call, walking away because he thought it was some girls from his tennis class playing a joke on him. Then, when he realized who was actually behind the sign, he replied, “Yes!”

Later, once Halie had made the treacherous course back to her sweetheart, they embraced and talked lovingly about their perfect night ahead. Jon apologized multiple times for his adorable mistake, but Halie forgave him with a simple peck.

This is just one of the many wonderful stories of how girls get asking a guy to a dance done. The Sadie Hawkins Dance is going to be February 11, 2012, at the Legacy Center. We can’t wait to see this endearing couple and many more dance the night away! Have fun Coronado!
