Life as a freshman

Crowded hallways, different than what I have ever known. Nerves running up and down; lost, no clue where to go.

“Excuse me, can you help me find my classroom?”

            Coronado High School is full with over two thousand students, so for any freshman this can be overwhelming.

     Kaci Greer entered her freshman year August 2010. Coming from Irons Middle School where there were considerably less than 2,000 students.

     “My first day of school I felt nervous, scared and small,” Greer said. “I was small since there were a lot of people.”

     Often changing from any middle school to any of Lubbock’s four high schools can be overwhelming for any student. For some like Morgan Vinson it’s just a new day.

     “My first day felt like any other day,” Vinson said, “I was ready and excited to meet new people.”

     Sophomore Brianna Burns remembers her first day of high school as a good day.

     “I had fun my first day, and I made some new friends,” Burns said, “it was a good day.”

     No matter what age or where you come from you will more than likely remember your first day of high school.

     Some people see their first day of high school as an exciting day to meet new friends, but for others they see it as a scary place full of people they don’t know.  But, with a little time, all will become accustomed to high school and fit right in.
