Who Are You?

Judgment, it’s a common occurrence in the life of today’s high school students, the various “social classes” always running amok with talk of others who are not like themselves. There is always turmoil in the kingdom of Coronado and most of it springs from the issue at hand. Crude or kind. Judgmental or judged. Who are you? The names quoted below were changed in order to protect the identity of current student body members.
Many a student judge on their peer’s outer appearance, no matter the amount of privileges they possess. The students who seem to have everything they want may come from a broken home or have parents that control there every move and action.
“I think they look snobby, like they think they are better than everyone else,” said Savanna Booe, who believes that the girls who always seem to look to “perfect” are trying a bit too hard.
No matter the style of clothes, the hair cut or the color of nail polish on your fingers, judgment is always in place.
“They look gross, like they shop at Wal-Mart or something,” said Maria Malinowski. Students who don’t have time to present themselves in the best light are people too. They work late nights to support their family, they can’t afford to shower every night and they surely can’t gather the money to obtain the latest designer jeans.
Then there is the students you have known for years and their name still escapes you.
“I honestly don’t know have the people in my class,” said Rodney Spears. The middleman that belong to none and are judged by all, that don’t really have a place to “call home.”
In the art of the Breakfast Club, aren’t we all a bit of everything? Every one of us is the middleman, the jock, the prep, the loaner, the beauty queen and the rebel. Judgment is cruel and you do not have to be cruel to be kind. We, has a student body, need to strive for a better tomorrow by allowing others that are different than you, the benefit of the doubt.
