Finishing the race towards graduation
Heather Baker reflects on time at Coronado
April 30, 2015
These past four year have gone by so fast. I remember thinking my first day of freshman year, “I’m never going to make it out of high school” and “I want to go home”. I couldn’t even begin to imagine what the next four years were about to bring.
I went in to high school with the same friends I made in middle school. By the end of freshman year, I had grown apart from almost all of them. Sophomore year was when I found myself and my true friends, who I am still currently friends with. I found people that accepted me for who I am, which is really important in high school. It’s not about how popular you are. It’s about how many true friends you find and I don’t mean the ones you only talk to in your English class.
I can honestly say that all of the class and homework was dreadful. I remember all of the all-nighters I pulled because I waited until the end of the six weeks to turn in projects, and all of the “study groups” that I had with my friends. Some of the classes were complete “blow off” classes and others were so tedious that it was impossible to make an A.
In the beginning; I measured my time in high school in class periods, six weeks, and semesters. Now, I measure it in the friendships I made and all of the times that we shared together. Even though I won’t remember all of the material I learned in my classes, I will remember all of the great times I had in high school.
